I'm wondering how many fully drawn pages does one text and picture page cover? How much time does this format save for you? And how much does it speed up the story? 🤔 _________________ Let it happen

Flashback fight!

A valuable life skill if ever there was one.

So far, it seems like two or three on average.

For each individual page, sometimes several hours. And sometimes none, but in that case it's usually a double-length page (which I can do more often now!) with a lot of illustrations.

Quite a bit! Considering my current drawing speed, we're already months ahead of where the story would be if I'd stuck with the comic-only format.
I still hope I can find some way to get faster, but even at this rate, the new format will make it possible to finish the story years sooner. (The 2100 ETA in that earlier news post was... not entirely a joke.)
Completely apart from the time thing, though, I think what I appreciate most is that there are no more "obligatory filler" panels.
A lot of earlier pages were (IMO) pretty cramped and boring to look at, because all the dialogue had to be in speech balloons, and then all the speech balloons needed some art wedged around them somewhere, which resulted in a lot of tiny panels with talking heads.
Now that I have the option to streamline some of the dialogue and minor actions into prose, I can choose to include artwork based on whether it will add entertainment value to the page and/or convey useful information. There's also more room to make the important illustrations bigger, which is refreshing.
Anyway, I hope that the story is still enjoyable to read this way. I'll keep making it as good as I can! _________________ "The one concession a sane man will never yield the universe is that of considering it seriously."

Well, it's working. Thanks for the answers, by the way.
I'm glad this story is continuing, because I really want to know what happens next. I like the characters and the world, plus the situation is engaging. I'm looking forward to the 'fire benders' losing their fire powers. If that happens.
There are a lot of good but uncompleted webcomics out there, and it's kinda sad that they'll never be finished, so it's a welcome surprise when a webcomic starts back up. A good example is Tamuran. Dead for four+ years and looking like it'll never be done, it started up again two and a half years ago. Unfortunately many more remain silent.
(It seems that the really terrible webcomics never stop, they're just like the Energizer Bunny, keeping on spewing out dreck.)
Well, it's that time of year, so I'll say Happy Holidays to everyone. _________________ Let it happen

Welcome back, Oubliette!
You're in luck, since there may be additional hijinks starting a few pages from now. _________________ "The one concession a sane man will never yield the universe is that of considering it seriously."

In Joe's defense, the scarecrow was really strong.

It had a well grounded stance, that's for sure.
