Oh my! I'm not sure if I want to squee or just quietly faint from joy.

Squee indeed! I can't wait to see the full trailer.

Also, apparently there's some extra footage in the Japanese teaser.

Oh man, with the hands at the end... Is that the scene I think it is?

It certainly seems to be an allusion to that scene, but I don't think they'd recreate it directly with the new cast. It just wouldn't have the same impact as the original which had the whole TV series behind it to build up a relationship between Kirk and Spock.

So, how bout we turn this into a general nerdy trailer thread with a link to Del Toro's upcoming movie featuring Giant Monsters, Giant Robots, and Giant Robots fighting Giant Robots?

Well damn, that does look unexpectedly entertaining. Also GLADOS YES PLZ.

And in return, we cannot have a nerdy trailer thread without The Hobbit!

On that note, got back from watching that tonight. At least one scene from that trailer was not in the movie. Maybe they'll have it in an extended cut...or the 3rd movie.

As for the movie itself...well, let's put it this way. The copy of the Hobbit I have is 272 pages in length (maybe 3 or 4 of those are illustrations). After almost 3 hours of film, we got to...page 103. But don't worry! They stuffed those pages full of long CGI battles and added character conflicts that didn't exist in the book for the sake of drama.

Watched in IMAX 3D. Unfortunately, I found out before the movie that it wasn't the high frame rate version like I thought it would be. I thought about seeing the movie again with the faster frame rate, but after watching it, I'm not sure I want to sit through it again...

I dunno. Maybe I'm being TOO much of a nerd, if that's possible.

Just a brief reminder for y'all:

Here in Australia we don't get movies till about 2-3 weeks after most everyone else. I've just spent the better part of a month dodging Guardians spoilers.

Please. Please don't make me go through this with The Hobbit too. Please.

Yeah, I tried to be vague about it as I could, I apologize if I spoiled anything in particular.

You've read the book though, right? I think I rather liked the book more. Same with Lord of the Rings.

Can we at least agree that the soundtrack was awesome?
