April 17th Update!

Page 386 is up! (And if you're a patron, you can check out the next 3 pages too!)

This week, let me tell you about...

Notaker

I just discovered this artist recently, and oh man, my work playlist is so much better now. His music makes an excellent accompaniment to writing or drawing any kind of action scene.

Please take note of Notaker:

Retribution (A song that can make everything you do feel epic.)

Abyss (There's gotta be a "deep sea bass" joke here somewhere...)

Infinite (How many times could I listen to this song? *points to title*)

The Adventures of Wiglaf and Mordred
The Adventures of Wiglaf and Mordred

Villain meets hero. Villain tries to lose hero. Hero becomes villain's best friend, whether villain likes it or not -- and that's just the beginning. It's a fun and light-hearted adventure, with an increasingly complex and intriguing story. Go see!

April 10th Update!

Page 385 is up! (And if you're a patron, you can check out the next 4 pages too!)

This week, let me tell you about...

Varien

This dude creates a range of most excellent electronic music. I'm not sure how to describe it in terms of genre, since there's so much variety to it -- but for a very broad idea, think "epic fantasy action game soundtrack".

Check it out if you happen to need an energy/motivation boost!

Once again, it's hard to pick just a few examples, but I'll try...

Hypnotique (Très exotique!)

Gunmetal Black (Fantastic battle music. The official description says it best: "Asian Action Movie + Metal + Psy + Orchestral because I can, boy.")

Aether and Light (Don't let the title fool you. That bass gets heavy!)

Of Foxes and Hounds (Moody, mystical, and a bit eerie.)

Simple and Clean Cover (My favorite version of this song. I love the mix of English and Japanese lyrics.)

April 3rd Update!

Page 384 is up! (And if you're a patron, you can check out the next 5 pages too!)

This week, let me tell you about...

CloZee

Another of my favorite glitch hop producers! (Can you tell I kinda like this genre?)

Her music has a really fun and unique sound: Exotic and quirky instrumentals, lovely bass, and delightful beats.

Here are a few great examples:

Gotta Get Some Sleep (Hear that? That's the sound of late-night productivity.)

Erase the Borders (Energizing, yet chill. The hints of chanting make this particularly engaging.)

Apsara Calling (Is it just me, or does this have a bit of a Wild West vibe? I don't know, try riding your trusty steed across the plains with it and see how it works for you.)

March 27th Update!

Page 383 is up! (And if you're a patron, you can check out the next 4 pages too!)

This week, let me tell you about...

The Guild of Ambience

This channel is one of my favorite discoveries. It's a treasure trove of fantasy-themed ambient soundscapes.

There are a lot of ambience videos on YouTube (birdsong, rain, fireplace sounds, etc.), but these are far and away the highest quality I've found.

The sounds are clear and well chosen, and (as far as I can tell) they never loop. There's pleasant variety throughout each long track, keeping them interesting without being distracting.

Each video also features a gorgeous, subtly animated background scene to help set the mood. They look AND sound amazing in full-screen HD.

You're sure to find something awesome for your next reading/writing/drawing/gaming session. ♥

Here are a few of my favorites:

Waterfall Sounds - Garden Pond, Bird Life (Ultimate tranquility. I'd love to have a garden like this.)

Fireplace Sounds with Howling Wind (Ultimate coziness. That mug in the foreground keeps steaming for the entire two hours... Must be some really hot cocoa.) :D

Dark Ambience - Cave Sounds / D&D Tomb (Ultimate eeriness. Makes a great soundtrack for writing spooky underground scenes. *ahem*)

Fantasy Music - Enchanted Lands (Ultimate... pleasantness. This is just really nice. It conveys a sense of wonder and spaciousness, like you've found a new land to explore and you have all the time in the world.)

Happy Comic Anniversary! And Other Good News

September 16th marks the start of a new year of True Magic. Huzzah!

Also, you may have noticed that we've had a new comic page every week recently! I'm eager to get back to the normal update schedule (and maybe even improve upon on it).

If you're enjoying the comic, you're welcome to join in the fun directly and become a True Magic patron! As a thank-you gift, I always make each new page available for patrons at least a week before I publish it here on the main site. (Right now, you can see the next three pages.)

We're almost halfway to the very modest funding goal that would allow me to produce the comic full-time. Meanwhile, every dollar pledged is helping me to keep the lights on, keep buying food, and keep creating more handsome peasant hijinks to share with you guys. ♥

Thank you for being awesome!

Northwind Returns!

Northwind, one of my favorite webcomics, just started updating again!

If you enjoy True Magic, I'm pretty sure you'll like Northwind as much as I do. It's a fun urban fantasy adventure with an intriguing story, charming characters, some delightfully silly moments, and... did I mention that it features handsome angels with fabulous hair?

Go check it out, my friends! ♥
